Keyhole Workspace Artist Residency
ECOCA’s Keyhole Workspace Residency provides 3 artists with free studio space for 4 months followed by an exhibition. There are two cohorts per year: spring and fall. Each cohort receives studio visits from guest curators and artists, a small material stipend, and support from ECOCA’s staff.

Applications are reviewed by a panel consisting of the gallery director (Aimée Burg), a board member (Clara Nartey), and an invited member of our community (Paul Theriault) to ensure rigor and equity in selection.
This studio is work space only. Artists must have their own separate housing.
Each studio is approximately 100 sq feet with no natural light. There is extra space for artists to spread out as needed. If you have never been to this location, we suggest a visit! Please take this into consideration when thinking about your Statement of Intent.
Applications require:
- 5 work samples
- an artist statement
- a statement of intent in regards to the theme
- a proposal for a community engagement project
- 3 references
How are the Artists-In-Residence chosen?

Strength of artistic practice 1-35
Quality of proposal / residency goals 1-20
Potential impact of residency on artist 1-15
Engagement with community or dialogue 1-15
Fit with residency mission 1-15
No one will be denied a submission. If one cannot afford the $35 submission fee please email aburg@elycenter.org with "Fall '26 Keyhole Application Fee Waiver” in the subject line.
We offer the fee waiver in return for 2 hours of volunteer time in the gallery. This might be gallery sitting, painting walls between exhibitions or other tasks.
