We are pleased to announce that Sharon Butler will jury a show curated from our Open Call 2020. The show will run from January 12 – February 16.

A painter and arts writer, Sharon Butler is widely known as the founder of Two Coats of Paint, a project which includes an online art journal, an artist residency, and many other initiatives. The journal has been sponsored by numerous arts organizations including the Creative Capital Warhol Foundation Art Writers Program, and for the past two years has additionally been supported by reader contributions and advertising revenue. In 2015 and 2018, Sharon was a resident at Yaddo, and was also the inaugural artist-in-residence at Counterproof Press. She has shown work nationally and internationally, has been included in NADA New York and Pulse Miami. Sharon is affiliated with Theodore: Art in Brooklyn and SEASON in Seattle. In 2016 and 2018, her exhibitions at Theodore: Art in Bushwick were selected as a Critic's Picks in Time Out New York and New York Magazine. This coming academic year she will be teaching at Cornell University and the New York Academy of Art.

Her new paintings are based on a series of digital drawings that she made in a phone application and has posted on Instagram each day.
